Genesee Enviro Center to host meditation workshop
The Genesee Environmental Center, Genesee, Pa. will host a Meditation workshop on Tuesday, August 7 at 6:30 pm featuring Richmond, Va. yoga instructor Alexza DeCroix.
The workshop will cover use and types of malas, guided meditation and several other meditation techniques. Comfortable, loose clothing is recommended, along with a yoga mat, if available, and some throw pillows for support. If you cannot sit on the floor, some type of folding chair is recommended. No previous yoga experience is required.
Alexza DeCroix has been teaching yoga and meditation for 8 years in Puerto Rico, New York, NY and Richmond, VA. Meditation is a fundamental facet of the practice of yoga. This workshop is designed to offer several techniques for the beginner student.
According to WebMD.com, meditation is a simple technique that, if practiced for as little as 5 minutes each day, will help you control stress, decrease anxiety, improve cardiovascular health, lower blood pressure and achieve a greater capacity for relaxation. Alexza believes that this is the simplest and most effective practice one can do for their own well-being, inner guidance and self-healing. “Simply put, prayer is stating a desire and meditation is listening for the answer.”
The class is limited to 20 students, and will only be held with a minimum of 5 students.
Registration is required. The cost is $22 per student.
